CBP Issues Reminder About APIS Requirement

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently issued a reminder that, as of October 4, 2005, carriers will be required to include additional passenger manifest data through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS).

APIS is an automated system capable of performing database queries on passengers and crewmembers prior to their arrival in or departure from the United States. The new requirement will require carriers to include the addresses of where passengers will be staying while in the United States. CBP has assigned additional personnel to work with carriers on implementation of this new requirement.
