An announcement is expected, as early as today, on the future of the DACA program. President Obama initiated the program via executive order in 2012. Many major news media outlets are reporting this:
Fox news reports that “[a]ccording to [a senior administration official] Trump is expected to announce the program’s end but will allow so-called ‘dreamers’ currently in the program to stay in the United States until their work permits expire-which for some, could be as long as two years.”
The Hill reports that “under DACA, …, approximately 800,000 people brought to the country illegally as children have been granted work permit and deferral from deportation.”
Other have commented as well… ILBSG is monitoring the developments and will report more once an announcement is made.
